Yesterday I went into a realm that continuously seems to exist beyond my comprehension. I went into the kitchen to try to cook but not with the microwave my trusted friend.

As you can see from the picture above, the result was not advantageous.
I tried to cook some chicken with vegetables in water. The idea was a good one of trying to eat healthy. One major flaw in the idea was not factoring in me cooking.
I started the chicken and veggies cooking and then returned to my laptop to check on a few things. After about 20 minutes, I remembered I was cooking something. I went to check and saw that I had burned the food beyond recognition.
In my defense, when I cook with my microwave, it shuts off automatically for me after the popcorn setting time has run out. It even beeps to let me know.
But not the stove top. It is not helpful at all. It does not shut off on its own and it does not beep for me. It is entirely unreliable. The stove top is an archaic contraption from a bygone era. The microwave is an invention of the modern era.
Fortunately for me in life, there is someone I can count on all of the time. He is always dependable. Even if I mess up, he is there. He doesn’t care if I am the worst cook ever. He knows my talents are to found somewhere else.
We can always count on Jesus. He is the eternal consistent we can depend on. Hebrews 13:8 says:
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
We can depend on Jesus. He is not like us. He is not like me a person who can cook on a stove top one day and the next time I try it is a disaster. He is perfect and the wonderful news is that he loves us even though we mess up.
One last thought would be whose kitchen should I cook dinner in? Should I cook in Dawn’s, Deandra’s, Beverley’s, Brendra’s, Ruelha’s, or Tina’s? You can vote by commenting.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
