It feels like I woke up and the world went crazy this week. I am in my 60s and I have never in my life seen the reaction to a virus that we are experiencing now with the COVID virus.

My evening classes at the college are canceled for next week. I hope it won’t be for too long. I will find out today if my morning classes at the elementary school will be canceled for the week too. If it is a long term thing, I will be in trouble.

I can understand canceling things in the short term, but I also found out the College World Series is canceled for the year. It does not take place until June- 90 days away. Surely that decision could have waited until May to see if it is warranted at that time.

The panic buying of toilet paper is really strange. People have lost their minds. I am concerned for those who can’t go hoard supplies like the elderly or disabled.

I am glad that Jesus is not panicked. I am glad Jesus stays the same solid rock. Jesus never changes. Now more than ever it is so important for me to keep my focus on Jesus and not the insanity going on around me.

Some passages from the bible that are resonating with me are:

Matthew 7 verse 24 and 25- “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”

1 Peter 2 verse 6- “See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.”

Hebrews 13 verse 8- “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

A lot of people are now doing online lessons. I would research whether you’re able to do that with your students. All the best! I think as Christians whose lives are defined by hope and peace, we find it hard to empathise with people whose lives are defined by fear and anxiety. Hopefully many people will discover the peace that passes understanding through this situation.

I love the verses you mentioned here. Panic and fear is so contagious, everyone is panic buying toilet paper here too. Hopefully people will consider others instead of hoarding stuff only for themselves.
You can try online lessons if the cancellation of classes extend for long term.

Hallelujah! The world has gone crazy but we can find peace in God. Think about the story of the storm at sea. The disciples were going crazy trying to save themselves. They did not know that they had the Saviour on board the ship fast asleep. Jesus did not need to panic becaue all He had to do is speak to the storm, “Peace be still.” Thank you, big brother for this great reminder.

I guess my post is appropriate. Your talking about the world going crazy. I’m talking about going insane. It looks like I’m back to blogging. ☺ The one thing I’m not going crazy about is this COVID virus. I’m keeping my focus on Jesus too.

Hoarding toilet paper lol….that is an underestimated here in Houston. The same thing is happening here too, schools have closed, even the boys and girls club have shut their doors.

The toilet paper hoarding has gotten serious. I never thought I would see the day of famine in the land for toilet paper. Yesterday, I had to go to 4 different stores to find toilet paper.
