We are living in a time many are fearful of what will happen. That is understandable during a global pandemic.

But do we need to be afraid of God? Fear has 2 meanings in the bible, 1 scared and 2 respect. Yes we need to respect God, but be scared of him?

Consider what Jesus said when John was trembling on his face when he saw Jesus in all of his glory in Revelation 1:

“When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, “Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last,”

When we come to Jesus, God adopts us as his children. He gives us the Holy Spirit. We are transformed from being slaves to sin who should be afraid to children of God who do not need to be afraid. Respect yes, afraid no.
