My maternal grandfather was a man who followed Jesus. He was an elder in his church in New Mexico where my maternal grandparents moved to in the early 70s because of health reasons for my maternal grandmother. She needed the warmer, dryer climate.

After my grandmother passed away, I would call my grandfather on a regular schedule. I would always ask how he was doing and then ask about his small dog Fifi, a small poodle my grandmother wanted.
One day I called and asked my grandfather how he was doing. I then asked how his little dog Fifi was doing, My grandfather answered:
“I am okay, Fifi is okay, If you call and Fifi answers, then I am not okay.”
I didn’t know how to respond. 🙂
Fortunately for us, Jesus is eternal. He would never have a time that ‘Fifi’ would answer. When we pray, we can be confident that God hears us. He would never not be okay. He has all power, he is eternal, and he is waiting for us to come to him.
We can trust in the truth in Hebrews 4:
“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
I do wonder though what it would be like to have a dog answer the phone. 🙂
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
