A strong wind was blowing and the waters grew rough. When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water; and they were frightened. But he said to them, “It is I; don’t be afraid.” Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.
That was the scene in John 6. The disciples in a boat in the midst of a storm and Jesus comes walking to them on the water.
We are not in a boat in a storm, but are we ever in the midst of difficult times and uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic, violence in our major cities in the USA, economic problems and more.
Now envision Jesus walking on the water in the storm with the waves threatening only the waves and storm are the chaos of life at this time and Jesus walks up to you and says- It is I, don’t be afraid.
I love the lyrics from the song Dancing on the Waves:
I’m reaching out, I’ll chase you down
I dare you to believe how much I love you now
Don’t be afraid, I am your strength
We’ll be walking on the water, dancing on the waves
Jesus is reaching out to you in the midst of the storms in your life. He is saying don’t be afraid, it is me and I have got you.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
