Would You Have A Cup of Coffee with Jesus?

When Jesus was on earth, one day he walked into a place called Samaria. Samaria and Samaritans were considered unclean spiritually. Jesus was sitting by a well when a woman came up to get water. He asked her for a drink of water. She responded by saying, “You are Jew how is it that you are asking me a Samaritan woman for a drink?” It was unheard of for a Jewish Rabbi to speak to a Samaritan woman in those days.

Jesus told her that if she knew who he was that she would ask him and he would give her living water-eternal life.

Imagine you are in your favorite hangout place like a coffee shop for example. Jesus walks up and asks you for a cup of coffee.

What would your response be?

2. Would you buy him a cup of coffee?

3. What would you ask him?

4. What would you want to talk with him about?

5. What life concerns would you want to let him know about?

For me, my answers would be:

1- amazed he was talking to me and ask him to sit down with me

2- I would buy him a cup of coffee or anything else he wanted.

3- I would ask when he is coming back for good.

4- I would talk with him about my life, my friends, problems in the world.

5- I would let him know about my chronic illness struggles and ask for healing. I would share with him about the woes in the world right now and how he wants me to help.

Here is the thing. We can share all of those things with Jesus well except buy him a cup of coffee. But we can ask him the sit down with us. We can ask him questions. We talk with him about our lives and our concerns.

Hebrews 4 says:

“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

I think I would be in such awe that He came to me! And yes, I would definitely buy Him a coffee. And honestly, I have nothing I want to ask… I would just want ‘to be’. I may say thank you though 😉

Wow. Very deep thoughts.

1. What would your response be? Shock. Totally and complete shock.

2. Would you buy him a cup of coffee? Yes, absolutely.

3. What would you ask him? Why this year had to be a disaster (that sounds bad, but I don’t mean it in a bad way) and what He has planned for the future.

4. What would you want to talk with him about? What He wants me to do with my future.

5. What life concerns would you want to let him know about? Everything. My deepest fears and problems. Total open honesty, even though He already knows everything.

1. Sadly, I would probably ask for proof that He was Jesus. Maybe ask to see the scars on His hands/wrists.
2. YES, of course! And I would ask what He wanted to eat with that coffee.
3, 4, 5 – I would thank Him for coming to earth and going through all of that for me and you. Then I would ask what I should do next. I would want to know if there are things I’m doing that I shouldn’t be, or things I am omitting that I should be doing.
Lastly, I would thank Him for this brief visit in person. What an honor and privilege!

    I would love to talk to Him about what life was like with the disciples & about His childhood.

    My job, my family, relationships & about loved ones already in heaven.

    BUT MOSTLY I WOULD JUST BE IN AWE THAT HE CHOSE TO HANG OUT WITH ME!!

Very good questions
1. What would your response be? Humbled beyond belief, in awe. I think it would be indescribable.

2. Would you buy him a cup of coffee? Yes, and more

3. What would you ask him? I know no one knows the day or the hour of when you will come to take your people home, but are we in the very end of times?

4. What would you want to talk to him about? I would want more on what it will be like when we get to Heaven. It is so hard for my human brain to comprehend. Infinite time, I would ask all about my final destination.

5. What life concerns would you want to let him know about? Nothing he knows my innermost being, and every hair on my head. He already knows the workings of Lisa. I don’t need to share as he knows every word before it even comes out. I would just be in awe. I would be still, and take in his eyes. I would allow myself to be at peace as He sat there with me, and just take every moment we had together in. I would ask if I could anything in service for him. I would be transformed in that moment. Wanting to do for him anything I could.

2. Would you buy him a cup of coffee? Yes if He wanted it. However He may buy everyone else coffee instead.
3. What would you ask him? What are some of the things that are most important to Him in a Christians walk with God.
4. What would you want to talk with him about? The problems in the world.
5. What life concerns would you want to let him know about? I’m not sure but I bet many things will come up.

What an interesting thought! I would like to think that I would be more interested in listening to what was on his mind, than coming up with anything specific. While I have many questions for him, I think that most often I want to know what matters to him.

I buy Him coffee for sure BUT when you did the last question/answer response (about going out to dinner) I really pondered what it’d be like to converse with Jesus and honestly I think I’d be awkward 🤦‍♀️like nervous 😬

Mine:
1. What would your response be?
In awe of His presence at first. And possibly want to give Him a big hug and stay there before He sits.

2. Would you buy him a cup of coffee?
Totally.

3. What would you ask him?
For us to see daily. That would be amazing.

4. What would you want to talk with him about?
What His mind is for our current time and all He needs me to act on. And my challenges too.

5. What life concerns would you want to let him know about?
Everything about me currently.

The title grabbed me, what a wonderful thought – to be able to sit with our Lord and chat as physical beings – but I’d go all daft and giggly and probably just fall and hug and kiss his feet! Coffee? He can have whatever I have. He already knows all my concerns and I wouldn’t want to know the future – but I think I’d want to know if I’m on track and how to be closer all the time… And you’re right, I can sit with Him all day every day… and drink coffee… but to touch Him and hug Him!! Wow!
