Summer Coming to an End?

It is September in Nebraska. That may not have much meaning to anyone not living where I live, but here when the weather gets crazy, we just say- It’s Nebraska.

Case in point- Today the high temperature will be 100 F/38 C and Tuesday the high temperature will be 48 F/9 C. So this afternoon if I go outside, it will be shorts and a short sleeve shirt. Tuesday will cause me to think about getting my sweaters ready.

Labor Day weekend in the USA signals the end of summer for us because it is the last three day weekend with warm weather. It also signals the beginning of the roller coaster ride where I live know as fall weather with rapid changes.

I am thankful that Jesus never changes. Hebrews 13:8 says:

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

His character never changes. He is the eternal Son of God. How he appears to us changes, eternal Son of God in heaven, baby born to grow to die for us, crucified, resurrected body etc. But his character and his divinity never change. We can always count on him.

So summer is coming to an end in the Northern Hemisphere. Will you miss summer? Or do you prefer fall?

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. Amen, God’s unchangeability is bad news for impenitent people, for it means the Lord will not overlook their sin. But our Lord’s immutability is good news for those who trust Him. It means that He cannot fail to keep His promises to forgive us and to protect us forever.

  2. I will not miss summer one bit. I love Fall. 💕

Fall and Winter in the desert are like springtime for me. 😂 Summer is always a little preview of Hell. 😓 I do miss the 3 feet of snow we had back east in the mountains. Can’t build igloos in the desert. 🌵

  3. What a beautiful capture! I will truly miss summer. There are things I love about each season, but I am in love with the sun. I love fall because I love layering, and puffy vests. Summer though, there is something very special about summer in the Pacific Northwest. It brings the most magnificent sunsets. Our lakes, and rivers are warm. I love the feel of the sun on an early morning bike ride, and how it magnifies every stop I take to soak in the beauty of my city. The sun, and I are buddies. So I will miss my buddy, and I know that fall is rearing its head. I am just grateful for another day of the gift of life, sun or leaves changing color I am blessed! Out come my puffy vests. I will do with it my very best! Blessings

      1. It will be pretty warm here this next week, it is cool at night. We have major evacuations all around us from fires. Lord be with us all. We had to leave our Labor Day getaway early due to a high wind storm. Not good for fires, 60 mph winds. Everything was blowing hard, and we had huge trees over us. Watching the news, it is getting bad. The fires are really bad! Lord you know all! 🙏🏻
Blessings as you start a new week! Lisa
