What Does Pray for and Love My Enemies Look Like Today?

I am just an ordinary person, so when I see what is happening in America, it is concerning to me. I have to admit though that as I have watched from afar all of the violence happening in cities in the USA, I have tended to be a bit judgmental about it. That has been my response toward both sides, both extremes.

Then one morning as I was praying I was reminded of Saul who became Paul. Jesus appeared to Saul who was persecuting Christians by having them put in jail and or killed and transformed Saul to become Paul who would take the message about Jesus throughout the Mediterranean World.

Antifa has not been an issue where I live. Hopefully it never does. The other extreme has also never been an issue and hopefully it never does. But a thought occurred to me.

If I want to pray for peace in the streets of the USA, perhaps I should pray for the extremists on both sides to have an encounter with Jesus the Prince of Peace. Jesus can transform the hearts and minds of people from the inside out.

My desire should be and is for all to come to know Jesus. When Jesus said in John 3:16:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Jesus meant what he said. God loves all people, the world, with a love we cannot comprehend. God loves all people including the extremists from both sides wrecking havoc in some of the cities in the USA.

So I will pray for them to have an encounter with Jesus. They are not in my city and hopefully they won’t be. I will also continue to pray for peace in our streets.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. Indeed! The gospel is always the answer. Near where I grew up there was a large block letter sign overlooking the highway that I passed many times and thought it was the foolish slogan of religious zealots. Now I have come to know that it is fundamental truth. The large, man-size (or larger) letters spelled out, “CHRIST IS THE ANSWER.” God bless!

  2. Yes, Jesus is the Answer! God’s message has never changed! It is the same for Christians as well as the ungodly. REPENT! Church, wake up! Pray, take a stand and share the Answer!

  3. Amen. A while ago I was praying for our brothers and sisters in persecuted lands and found myself praying over each of the president/king/leaders.. that they would “be knocked off their horse and encounter Jesus” that was all I knew to pray and I knew that was all that they needed.
