It has been so wonderful to be back with my morning class of moms learning English in the school where their children go. My class has moms from Burma, Guatemala, Mexico, Sudan and Syria. Three moms are joining remotely via Zoom and the rest are in the classroom.

A few fun facts so far:
1- Even if I walk in when the preschoolers walk in, I still don’t get the breakfast bag. Is that ageism?
2- I ordered some fun face masks. I thought I should since I am in an elementary school building.
3- We hit a time warp going from March straight to September when the moms made the September calendar. The March one was still up when we got back in the building.
4- The moms still love my incredibly funny jokes. Or maybe they are just being polite, I am not sure. 🙂
Yes there have been some adjustments. But we are having fun. Each morning I pray for my class. I ask Jesus to help me show his love and kindness.
Kindness is so missing these days. People are stressed and yes there are stressful things happening in the USA, a pandemic, riots in some major cities destroying those cities, and an election year. My desire is for my classroom to be a safe space for the moms. Kindness can go a long way to helping them feel they are in a safe space.
So the school year is off to a good start. Now if I could only get one of those breakfast bags 🙂
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
