Last night as I was writing this post, I had the air conditioner set at 65 F, 18 C. It was not just because I like cooler temperatures. I sleep better in cooler temperatures. Part of that is sleeping in an old sweatshirt. It is comfortable. I tend to go for comfort over fashion every day. 🙂
I also ate some chocolate ice cream before taking meds. I had bought a big tub of it because I thought my new medication would cause more trouble than it did, I can’t let chocolate ice cream go to waste, can I? Comfort foods are nice to have from time to time.
God wants to comfort us. Think about that for a minute. God wants to comfort us. He is the God of all comfort. That is so personal. God wants to be personally involved in our lives. 2nd Corinthians 1:
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
Ponder the two descriptors about God the Father- Father of compassion and God of all comfort. God is not some impersonal force. He is highly relational.
God’s comfort has two purposes. First to comfort us as any good father would want to do with his children. Secondly, it is so we can in turn comfort others.
If we give God our struggles in life whether it is health, relationship, family, or any other problems, he will comfort us, He can also comfort others through us.
