For twenty-three years, my life was one of pioneering a new kind of ministry for where I live which has been reaching out the refugees in my city. It definitely has not been an easy path, but very rewarding. It was a patchwork of part-time jobs and part-time missionary support not a recipe for success in the world’s eyes.
In July I was hired on full-time by the school system here. My life is changing. I have my evenings free as of this week. One change that is a pleasant surprise is how well our school system here takes care of its employees.
This week is the last week to sign up for benefits. I had not done so yet, so the person who oversees benefits was concerned. She contacted me and also my supervisor to make sure I got enrolled. It was one of those double take moments for me. I am not used to an employer caring.
I have to admit there have been a few times I have wondered to myself why didn’t I do this long ago, but then my path would have been altered. I do not regret my previous path at all because it led me to sharing the love of Jesus with people from many countries/cultures.
But now that I have gray hair or actually white hair Isaiah 46:4 has new meaning.
Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
