Story Time- The Slow Cooker

It seemed like a good idea at the time to buy a big slow cooker, so I can cook food to bring for lunch. I started doing that a few weeks ago. It is a device that moves at a snail’s pace.

But it caused another dilemma for me which was having a container to put said food in to bring with me. I have heard of and seen people use a device called Tupperware, but I have never had it myself nor knew where to acquire said Tupperware.

Then one day in the store while buying paper towels, I saw something called Ziploc plastic containers and purchased the aforementioned item. Problem solved.

My other frustration with the slow cooker is its name is a bit deceiving. For a guy who is used to using the popcorn setting on the microwave, which is still the ultimate cooking method, I think the contraption called slow cooker should be called- Really Really Slow Cooker.

I mean it took hours for the food to cook. Sure the end result was good, but my gosh. 8 hours to cook food!!!

With so many confusing devices like Really Really Slow Cooker, is it any wonder that the realm called kitchen escapes my understanding. This is frustrating for a guy who interacts with diverse cultures every day and can speak three languages. The realm called kitchen humbles me.

What are your thoughts? Really Really Slow Cooker or Popcorn Setting on Microwave?

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. Oh dear, what a dilemma. I will choose really really slow cooker over microwave (popcorn setting).

The kitchen can be fun and sometimes not so fun. Well done on getting a container and a slow cooker. Now you need the Spirit of patience, discipline and not to be discourage 🙂

I have used a slow cooker, mainly on a Sunday morning before church as I am out for most of the day so it makes sense when I get home it almost ready. You could try that but that means getting up a little early to prepare the ingredient or better yet prepare it Saturday evening and turn the cooker on Sunday before going out :).

Don’t give up on it before trying it fully.

Good luck and looking forward to hearing about the adventure of really really slow cooker

    xoxo

  2. Have your food prepared the night before your work day. Put a big reminder on your bathroom mirror to put the food in the slow cooker, turn it on and leave. When you return home after a busy day, your meal is ready. Enjoy your kitchen adventures! You can do it!

  3. I cook in my slow cooker all the time and love the results.

Suggestion, you can put your food in the slow cooker the night before turn it on let it cook all night and when you wake up in the morning your food will be done. This way during the day you won’t be anxious waiting for the food to get done.😊

  4. Wow!! Way to go!! I’m impressed that you’re becoming a bit more familiar in the kitchen. Branching out!!
Really really slow cooker is my preference BUT just FYI (because I know you and I have burnt-food-wars) I have actually burnt chili in a crockpot!!!😅😂

  5. I gave up on the slooooowww cooker and bought an Instapot instead. Amongst many other things, I can now cook a giant pot of soup in about 30 minutes. And cook a perfect turkey breast in about 40 minutes. It’s wonderful! Though I do still use the microwave from time to time. 🙂
