Story Time- The Time I Tried to Bake Cookies

It was a December afternoon when I was college age. We already had snow on the ground. I decided to bake some cookies, so I went to the store and bought some cookie dough. That was after I made a visit to a Christian bookstore and purchased a new album and a new study bible. Fortunately when I returned home, I was the only in the apartment. My roommates were gone, so there were no witnesses to what was about to transpire.

I was really looking forward to some chocolate chip cookies freshly warm out of the oven. It seemed easy enough just slice them off and place them on the flat metal thing. I put them in the oven and then went to the small living room in the apartment.

Once in the living room, it was time to listen to my new album and check out my new study bible. I put the headphones on and opened my study bible. The music was a Christian album, so I sat there worshipping while looking at my study bible losing track of time. I was so focused and due to using the headphones, I could hear nothing else.

Suddenly I smelled something burning. It was at that moment I realized I had forgotten about the cookies. Due to the headphones I could not hear the smoke alarm. I quickly went to the kitchen, opened the oven and saw the cookies were burned badly, Smoke was billowing out of the oven. I opened the sliding glass door to the balcony and shook the cookies off of the flat metal thing down into the snow.

That was the last and only time I ever tried to bake cookies. They are sneaky little things and will burn on your quickly so be warned. 🙂

Fortunately for us God does not forget about us and our lives. Jesus said in Matthew 6:

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?  Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

As for me, now I buy gluten free packaged cookies, so no more burned cookies.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.
