It is Friday or as I like to say-Fri-Yeah. I say that to other teachers at the school each Friday morning knowing they like the thought of it being Friday and the weekend is ahead. I say that knowing that it is the day I inject methotrexate and that by the end of school day there is only one place I was to be which is a special place called bed.

But this Friday I feel Fri-Yeah for various reasons. Yesterday my church delivered 90 individual Bundt Cakes from a special bakery which was a boost to the spirits of the staff. On my Facebook feed I saw two former students of mine graduate from the Community College I have taught at for 21 years. Top it all off with a party to look forward to tomorrow night for a young woman I helped prepare for university for her graduation. So even though Friday afternoon means bedtime, I actually feel Fri-Yeah.
I had no idea of a blog post last night. I normally write them the night before and schedule them to post the next morning. As I write, I am listening to worship music and this post came to mind. It reminds me of a line from a scene from the movie The Shack where a man had walked on water with Jesus by his side but when he started off the next time ahead of Jesus, he couldn’t. Then Jesus came alongside him and saying it works better if we do it together.
Together with Jesus makes any situation better. In the passage from Matthew 11 when Jesus invites all who are weary and heavy laden his invitation is to take his yoke.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls
Yoke is something that escapes our modern minds. A yoke was used to harness two oxen together to work as a team. Jesus invites us to join with him in life so that our lives are no longer a solo act. We join with him who though he has all power is gentle and humble of heart.
Together with Jesus means that today will be Fri-Yeah even though I inject medicine.
What are your weekend plans? Consider inviting Jesus to be with you.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
