Ephesians 1- Because of Jesus, We Have The Holy Spirit

From the very first moment we believe, trust in Jesus as our Savior, we have the Holy Spirit as our comforter, helper, teacher, guide and so much more. In Ephesians 1 we read:

When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,  who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

As wonderful as it is to have the Holy Spirit with us, in this life having the Holy Spirit is a guarantee of the inheritance we will fully realize in heaven.

I love how Jesus described the Holy Spirit in John 14- our advocate:

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth.

Paul taught that the Holy Spirit helps us when we pray in Romans 8: The Holy Spirit is our translator when we pray. 🙂

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

There are so many aspects of the Holy Spirit’s ministry in our lives. The one that is my favorite is also in Romans 8:

For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”  The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

The Holy Spirit helps us to not live in fear but live knowing we are children of God.

I am sharing this song most of you perhaps know, but encourage you to listen to it to be reminded.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.
