We enjoyed several picture perfect days for three weeks at the end of May and first days of June. Those nice days allowed me to spend time in the park reading and one Saturday an enjoyable time of a picnic with some of my students. I had thoughts of wouldn’t it be nice if it stayed like this all summer even though I knew I was fooling myself.

Then it happened on Sunday. Summer lowered its boom and now we are in the midst of a heat wave with temps some days reaching 100f/30c. That is normal where I live but still when it happens, it begins my countdown to September. Though I do not live in a desert like the picture above, it feels like it.
Knowing something unpleasant is coming is one thing but actually having it happen is another thing. Knowing it is coming can cause a bit of dread but when the reality hits, one needs to find a way to cope.
Fortunately even though it is too hot for reading in the park, my favorite coffee shop has air conditioning. So my summer of reading, writing, and practicing Spanish shall commence.
Speaking of writing, I am at about 8,000 words for a book I am working on about how Jesus understands trauma and wants to partner with us in our healing journey. My hope is to finish it this summer along with a book about how Jesus has worked in my life.
For me the coffee shop is a place that stimulates me in my writing. Something about observing about the diverse people who come to the coffee shop helps me write. So I will spend the afternoon there before I teach my final evening class at the college until mid July.
Do you have a favorite writing spot?
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
I write in my recliner using my phone or laptop top or in my office at the PC.
I can read anywhere!
Recliners are good for naps too
Weβre feeling those heatwave temps on this end of the state also!!π₯΅
Iβve been writing at my kitchen table lately (working on something a bit lengthier recently) but boy Iβm gonna have to find a more comfortable spot!!
I think you prefer winter βοΈ π
ππΌit does a number on my mental health..I need sunshine and greenery.
Maybe Hawaii would be good for you π€
Please!!?!
β¦oh and Iβm surprised youβre awake, not sleeping in!!
I will definitely be taking a nap later
My big ole’ oversized recliner. While I do have air conditioning, I love sitting outside being porch people in the summer. For me the hotter the better. Blessings.
Oversized recliners are great
The summer is getting really hot π₯. I am glad you find a cool spot to relax. Don’t drink too much coffee π΄
I will drink more iced tea
Good π
100Β°! Say it ainβt so ππ prayerfully those tempts will not last too long
So I take it you do not want those temps to come your way? π
Not these πππ
I am waiting for that book, will it be physical or e-book? Sorry about the summer but the winter isn’t favorable either so that God for your coffee shop. My favorite writing spot is on my bed in the morning on Saturday when I am just chilled and relaxed.
Writing chilled and relaxed is great. I have not though far enough ahead about physical or e-book yet
Let me know when you decide dad. I would want to read the book π too
I definitely will let you know. How are you?
Feeling better. Just discomfort but I thank God for life π
Will pray for you
Thank you Daddy π
