God Will Guide About What to Share

Without realizing it, yesterday my post about my dog when I was a child fell on National Puppy Day. I did not know about National Puppy Day until I saw someone share about on FB. It was just a fun little coincidence, or was it?

So many times in my journey with Jesus in this life, a thought has come to me while praying or while sharing about Jesus with someone and without knowing beforehand, what was on my mind to share would be spot on for the person.

Last weekend in my class in the Ukrainian Church was an example. The theme of hope was in my spirit, so I shared Romans 15:13 about the God of hope and shared a video of the song The Blessing in Ukrainian. We had a married couple, new arrivals, join us. It was after class while my friend Alexey was giving me a ride home that I found out the couple are not Christians. I also did not know they would be in class until class started.

In Luke 12:11-12 Jesus taught the disciples about sharing about him:

“When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say,  for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.”

The Holy Spirit can guide us in how to share with people. It has been my personal conviction to not rely on a canned spiel for sharing Jesus, but rather to fill my mind with The Word of God, the Bible, and trust Jesus to guide me as to what to share with people.

By the way, in case you are wondering, today is National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day. Doesn’t seem as heart warming as National Puppy Day. 🙂

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. I have experienced God giving me the right words. By myself I just blunder along.
I have also experienced someone learning from my mistakes as if God pointed at me and said to that person…”Psst…don’t be like Gary”

  2. Matt, it’s so true the spirit will guide us! It’s amazing how it works (my words can’t cut the mustard)! I can’t believe I missed National Puppy Day! I do like chocolate covered raisins~but not near how I love pups! Keep being a guided mouthpiece of our Lord! You’re great, Brother!

      1. It’s my blessing, brother! Today I completed tasks such as Dr appt AND license bureau (yep!). I find blessings in each day; even when my body physically doesn’t want to move, the Spirit gets me moving. I’m having difficulty with my back. An MRI may be ordered to determine if it’s tumors pressing on nerve or my spinal stenosis acting up? It’s causing issues BUT for God! Please take care and I hope and pray YOU are well!

  3. I enjoyed your story about growing up with a Golden Retriever who saved you from eating yucky vegetables. Your unforced method for sharing the gospel is refreshing. I grew up with lots of canned, ready-made evangelistic lines to share with strangers. It never felt natural or right. May God continue to bless your work with refugees.

  4. Before I received some teaching on how to hear Holy Spirit, I didn’t understand how easy and natural it was to hear him. I then realized I had been hearing all along but didn’t realize it. Holy Spirit lives inside us and guides, teaches, comforts, corrects etc. You are doing well, in hearing.
