Sunday morning during worship, I heard someone singing loudly and way off key. The person could not follow the melody at all but was loving Jesus by singing to him with all she had in her voice. While she was singing, I smiled. It was a beautiful thing to behold.
She is part of my church’s Masterpiece Class, which is a class for adults with special needs. She loves Jesus and was showing him her love.
We have some musically gifted people in my church who help with leading worship. Their voices are beautiful as they harmonize. They share leading various songs depending on what kind of voice fits best.
The thought struck me that in the eyes of Jesus, the young woman from the special needs class sang as beautifully as the worship team because she was singing to him from her heart. For Jesus, it does not matter if we sing off key. He cares about our heart attitude when we worship as Jesus said in John 4:24:
“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
I hope I am blessed to sit near her again and be blessed by her beautiful off key singing from her heart to Jesus who she loves.
