Wow it is July already. What a first half of the year!!! As I look back at the first half of the year, I am amazed I got anything done with the way it started out.

The year started out with a minor heart procedure followed by a bout of pericarditis, a bout of pneumonia, and a bout of strep throat. Yet it was still an amazing first half of the year thanks to Jesus giving me strength.

Jesus led me to transition from having two teaching jobs to only one but with a few more hours at the one. That has meant only teaching two mornings a week and as someone living with chronic illness, mornings are the worst for me.

My Sunday morning group has been going well and we are having fun with learning English while also using Portuguese and Spanish in group.

This past quarter 100% of my students at the college had learning gains on their English placement test. I am so proud of them!!!

My Ukrainian friends are getting settled into their new lives in America. I am grateful I could be a small part of their adjustment.

I learned A LOT about self publishing with Amazon and the whole process. My two books, Jesus Understands Trauma and Lifted Out Of The Pit/Called To The Nations, have been published.

Oh and I have a new coffee shop home, so now I have two 🙂

So today starts the second half of the year. I look forward to seeing what Jesus has in store for me, well except any doctor stuff.

How did you feel about the first half of the year?

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. I’m excited that you have two “offices” now, Matt! Oh, the possibilities! For instance, you can tell the same jokes at both places.🤗
The first half of the year was a waiting time for me—hoping to get promoted to assistant principal. The news came in May—I got the job! We just finished a month of summer camp, and now I get 17 days off, before going back.

    1. Great idea tell the same jokes at both places.
17 days off- travel or stay home?

      1. Both. Going to spend five days in New England.

      2. Roughing it like Gary or in a motel?

  2. I like to rough it like Gary, well sorta, but Nancy does not. Staying in a Vermont hotel.

    1. Gary sleeps under the stars no tent, I think lol

  3. The Lord continues to walk ahead of us. His Light shall never dim! He has blessed me with good health and energy to help with other family members’ needs. My wife and I are looking forward to an August trip to see family in Montana.

    1. Blessings on your trip in August. Do you see bears there too?

  4. Wishing you a wonderful and healthy rest of the year 😊

It seems as if the months are going so far with many twists and turns, but hopefully the latter will be greater than the former.

    1. Thank you 🙏
Twists and turns yes but Jesus is always there 😊

  5. You’ve had a very busy first half of the year but things seem to be going well!!

We’ve had an interesting year so far with the addition of the pigs, goats, and ducks making us a little farm!!

    1. It has been quite the year so far.
Will you get some moo cows too?

      1. Nah too expensive..I have two daughters who would love a pet cow but nope it’s not in the plans ..or the pocketbook for that matter!!

      2. Nope my husband says they’re hay burners!! And since you’re a city folk I’ll explain that..roughly translated it means they’ll down the hay quicker than I can probably afford to get it replaced!!

      3. Maybe llamas. They fight off coyotes

      4. 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

  6. You had some challenging and joyful times. The Lord will take you through.

    1. Yes he will. Thank you little sister

  7. Wow Big Bro, your post is hope for the next half of the year.
Loved how God is working in your life, self publishing that is amazing, two coffee shops double bonus 🤗and glory to Lord Jesus Christ 👏🏾
I am definitely looking forward to next half of year. Not sure what is in store but looking forward to it. And before you know it winter will be here 🤭
Thanks for the update, bless you and looking forward to seeing what is in store for the next half ❤️

    1. Thank little sister. Blessings for the second half of your year. Maybe a dog 🐶😂

      1. 😂 will see. I do prefer dogs but they are responsibility 🤗

  8. Wow, a lot has happened to you this year! It amazes me how you still give God the praise and feel positive about everything you’ve done so far. Keep encouraging people with your words. You’re amazing. The first half of this year saw me moving to England, shaving down most of my hair, and completely remaking myself. I feel grateful to be where I am now.

    1. Shaving your hair? Was it by choice or because of something?

      1. It was by choice. I wanted a physical change to match the new person I was becoming and changing into. I was in a dark place before but moving to London and now being surrounded by so many supportive people really helped to give me a chance to start over and remake myself.

      2. I am glad you have people who are supportive. Please email me at chatwithjesusluvsall@gmail.com if you want. I have something I would like to send you free of charge.

      3. Thank you so much! I would love to read your book. I’ll email you 👍🏾

      4. I wrote a book Jesus Understands Trauma. I would like to send you a copy
