I originally had a humorous post scheduled for today, but after seeing the movie Sound of Freedom, I felt this post needed to be shared. The movie is about children being freed from sex trafficking and Tim Ballard who started Operation Underground Railroad, which is an organization that frees children from sex trafficking.

The message of the movie is hugely important. The movie is well acted. The movie had five years of obstacles to be released into theaters. Why would corporate America not want it released when over the past five years there has been so much garbage released?

The reason I went to see it in the theater, after not having been in one for years, and not waiting for it to come out in a streaming service is because I believe good box office for the movie sends a message.

I loved the line from the movie of why Tim Ballard does what he does, “Because God’s children are not for sale.”

It is sobering to think that there are more slaves in the world right now then ever before and many of them are children victimized by sex traffickers. The country that has the largest number of children trafficked into? The USA. Let that sink in for a minute.

I think of what Jesus said about those who harm children in Matthew 18:6

If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

Please go see the movie in the theater.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. I remember learning about modern slavery in one of my history classes. There are almost 30 million people living in what is defined as modern slavery and many of them are women or children. I truly hope there’s a way to stop this.

    1. I think it will take a movement of many people to force governments to do something because appallingly there are people in powerful positions who partake of it such as those who went to Epsteint’s island

  2. Damn, That sounds good! I just read a book called ‘Trafficked’ which was excellent, too..and I am sharing it to pass the word.

    1. I will look for that book

  3. It is so hard to believe that sex trafficking or human trafficking is something we need to worry about but it is especially when someone is trying to get the children. You hear about it all over the place and it is so important to share with everyone. Even to think about it how anyone can rape a child or anyone is horrible. I was a rape victim as a child from a grandfather than my own father. People want to believe that is is a stranger but nine times out of ten it is someone that the victim knows, and to prove it is not something that is easy because the victim always get blames. I will be sharing this on my blog.

    1. You have experienced trauma and I am glad you have Jesus to help you

  4. I just heard about this movie last night from a friend, I hope it raises awareness of this horrible act.

    1. I hope it does too
Are you ready for your trip to Lincoln?

      1. I hope so! We have some very busy days coming up before that though so it’ll be interesting over the next week!😅

  5. Great post, Matt. My son paid for it and took me to see the movie. When it first started I wanted to get mad that he would get tickets for such a movie. Then, only after a few minutes, I was glad he did. I cried during the movie and saw that one of the folders with the children’s ages was from 0 months – 6 months. This is devastating!! I came home and called my sister, who lives in a different state, and told her she had to go see it. She went the next day. Luckily, there were still tickets available as theaters are getting sold out. When she came out of the theater she asked one of the male workers if he had seen it yet. He said it would be too heart-wrenching for him to see right now. After they got to talking more he told her he hasn’t seen her sister since she was 6 years old. She was one of the children taken. He was between the ages of 17-20, she wasn’t sure how old. So, please be in prayer for this young boy. We have to get the word out. Oh, my sister also told me the theater was scheduled to only play it for 3 days but there has been such a crowd wanting to see it they have now scheduled it for 3 months.🙏.✝️

    1. It is such an important movie that deals with a tragic reality in the world and such evil. Prayed for the young person and his sister. It is emotional hard to watch the movie realizing it deals with real life. But so important for the word to get out.
