Woke up to the sound of thunder this morning and looked at our local weather. We are starting the day with a big thunderstorm this morning. As I sat down at my computer to start my day with worship music, I heard the sounds of a siren drive by due to living eight blocks from a hospital.

Yesterday morning when I sat at my computer listening to worship music, the birds outside my window joined in the chorus of the music.

It causes me to reflect on the truth that no matter what happens around us, Jesus is with us. If there is a storm in life, Jesus is with us. If times of calm, Jesus is with us.

The truth of Jesus being with us no matter our circumstances is most comforting. As someone who has experienced valleys in life, I can attest to that.

My other thought was a cloudy morning in July means the sunshine is not so bright and I could have easily slept more, but have things to do today. What a waste of a cloudy morning.. But that is nor a very spiritual thought. 🙂

Have you ever noticed that the storms in life cause us to seek Jesus more than the calm times do? I am grateful for the calm times. But can a person be grateful for the storms in life? What do you think? I know my answer just wondering what others think.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. I had to come to ask myself when I have troubles, “How can God get glory from this?” It reminds me that there are lessons in the storms and when we overcome the struggles, someone else sees God’s glory working in our lives.

    1. Excellent point little sister. I love that thought of others seeing God at work in our lives

  2. I am thankful God is with us in all circumstances. 🌻🐝

      Immanuel- God with us 🙂

  3. I absolutely agree. We can and should be grateful in the storms of life. I also love to greet the day with music.

    1. So good to hear from you little sister. How are you?

Greeting the day with music helps me so much 🙂

      1. It is well with my soul. God is so good!

  4. That was quite the storm filled morning.
I prefer waking up to the birds singing

    1. both are fun for me 🙂

  5. Some things are appreciated more from having passed through some storms. I like storms, when watched from the inside of the house, less when I am soaked. Love the cooler temperatures and rain that keep forest fires down. Also enjoy hearing the birds sing and fly!

    1. Cooler temps are nice. I like watching storms

  6. I’ve certainly learned more, and grown closer to God, through the storms of life. There’s plenty of proof in the Bible that the Lord actually comes closer to us during the storms of life.

    1. God definitely teaches a lot during the storms

  7. I love taking sky pictures. The most beautiful pictures are when there are clouds, often from a storm that is forming. This is true in my life. The most beautiful lessons I have learned are in the storms. God is near and powerful during those times. Blessings, Matt!

    1. There are certainly lessons in the storms

  8. Of course I thought immediately to the lovely card I have on my prayer table (I even wrote a blog about it about a year ago) It reads: ‘Life is not waiting for storms to pass, it is learning to dance in the rain.’ 😀

    1. Do you dance in the rain? Now I am thinking of the old song singing in the rain

      1. I’m learning to (not always literally, though I actually like physical rain – especially in warm weather)

  9. It’s definitely the trials in life that bring us closer to Him. It’s the times when God has led me through storms that He’s proven to me that He can truly lead me through anything. Before my week in Prague I went to the women’s conference my church holds for the first time. It was such a moving experience and just what I needed.

    1. I am glad you were blessed by the women’s conference :))

  10. Dear Blogger, I would say to look up more to the heavenly Father of Jesus. It is Him who is the Only One God Who is with us all time, when we allow Him to be in our life.

    1. As Jesus promised- He is always with us
