Each evening that I teach downtown at the college, I drive past the old Pershing Auditorium. It sat mostly unused for the past several years while the city tried to decide what to do with it. In recent weeks, I have noticed it is being torn down. I saw many concerts there in the 1970s by groups many would consider classic rock nowadays.

It is going to be replaced by a combination affordable housing apartment complex and city library. So out with the old and in with the new. A whole new building with new purpose.
It causes me to reflect on the truth of 2nd Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
When we come to Jesus, he works in our lives to make us new with new purpose and new life. He gives us the ability to change and empowers us to live for him.
When I rededicated my life to Jesus, I was a sales rep who cared about one thing-making money. Over the years, Jesus transformed my heart and life for the purpose he had for me, which is to share his love with refugees/immigrants in my city. He equipped me along the way. I can definitely say that my life has been so much richer knowing Jesus and following his will for my life.

Has it always been easy to experience the change? No. Has it been worthwhile? Definitely YES. You would understand more if you read my book Lifted Out of the Pit/Called to the Nations.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
