Yesterday it was a blessing to spend time with Alexey and Ruslana and their family for Labor Day. It was a significant day because it as exactly one year ago that they came to America from Ukraine via Germany. It has been wonderful to watch as God has helped them with their new lives here.

In one year, they have had a grandson born, their children have been doing well learning in school, and most recently, their daughter Ester got engaged.

This evening, Alexey will meet with the pastor of a church here in Lincoln about starting a Ukrainian church that will meet on Sunday afternoons in that church. I am thrilled for Alexey. He was a pastor in Ukraine and also had an professional career there. He lost everything because of the war except his family. Now he is working, his children are in school, his second oldest daughter will get married, and now he is working on starting a church plant.

It was also their youngest son Samuel’s 6th birthday. I bought some matchbox cars for him and when I got in the house, I had a little fun. I said, “I heard someone has a birthday…” I then said the names of his brothers and sisters each time he would say, :”It’s my birthday.” He was happy to receive a birthday gift.

I look forward to seeing what God has for them during their second year here.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.
