It is Flag Day today in the USA. No celebrations or parties, just people displaying their flags outside.The flag is one of the symbols of the USA, along with the Statue of Liberty and the Eagle.

But today I am thinking about symbols of Christianity. There is definitely the cross that reminds us of Jesus dying for us to become our Savior. There is the fish symbol that was used many many years ago when people would make in the dirt to show each other they were Christians during heavy persecution.

The symbol that gets my attention the most is the empty tomb. The empty tomb of Jesus guarantees that Jesus’s death on the cross accomplished what he came to do, to make eternal life and forgiveness available to all who come to faith in Jesus. The empty tomb symbolizes that Jesus defeated death for us, so we are guaranteed eternal life if we trust in Jesus.

It is the empty tomb of Jesus that fills me with hope. Because he lives, because he defeated death, in any situation I can have solid hope. It is the empty tomb of Jesus that reminds me that Jesus will share his victory over death with all who believe in him.

You can have that eternal hope by trusting in Jesus as your Savior.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  3. An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!
    Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
    Because He lives, all fear is gone;
    Because I know He holds the future,
    And life is worth the living,
    Just because He lives! Amen – you have me singing. 🌺
