WordPress did it again. They made a change without letting anyone know. They are making it increasingly difficult to read posts by other bloggers. Now if I want to read post by fellow bloggers, I need to click on the glasses icon. One day it was click on the word reader and the next day the word reader was gone. I had to look around and figure out maybe try clicking on the glasses icon.

This makes me wonder if due to the constant unannounced changes if some bloggers give up on WordPress. That would not surprise me because WordPress is increasingly becoming less user friendly.

Question for my fellow bloggers, if you can find my post, have you felt frustrated by WordPress at times?

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. Yes Matt I do get frustrated like you on word press but I don’t want to give up on it I do hope it will get better. I am not sure if they will begin to charge us

    1. I don’t want to give up either

  2. Yes, I’m with you! I tried to express some of these things to WordPress a couple of months ago, but it didn’t seem to go anywhere. The people who work on the backend must not have a blog or follow any blogs. Otherwise they would see the frustrations firsthand. 🤷‍♀️

    1. I think they are not interested in having input from bloggers

  3. I only read blogs I have signed up to come by email first….then I read blogs by people who comment from those I follow. I guess I never used Reader. When I get behind from my life stuff happening, I have to be quite selective when I get way behind. I think that Word Press probably puts some blogs I read into spam so I have to seek them out if I am missing their posts.

    1. I like reader because I can look at the blogs under I subscribe to, but that is not 100%.

  4. I noticed things going south when WP started a “Pay to Play” feature called “Boost.” Want to improve your sagging stats? Just pony up $25, and WP will make sure more people see your posts—until it’s time to pay them some more. I primarily use the reader (eye glasses icon) on the app to read the blogs I follow. Frankly, I’ve considered simply posting with likes and comments disabled. If someone REALLY wants to talk, they can shoot me an email. 😊 It feels like I’m on a social media cake walk, with fewer and fewer friends seeing my posts. I think my content is still good (enough), so where did everyone go?

    1. I wonder if it is people giving up. I have noticed a drop off too and have noticed fewer of the blogs I subscribe to posting. I agree with you. We both have paid blog plans, so the idea of having to pay an additional fee for a post to be promoted does not sit well with me

      1. Agreed, Matt. I already pay Word Press for my domain and ad free plan, so paying more is a hard pill to swallow. Confession, I’ve paid to boost a post or two and it works. Lo and behold I got more views—but not necessarily more followers.

  5. I very much empathise with your frustrations. I have been frustrated by WordPress’s changes multiple times. I find them so unnecessary and they make the platform more difficult to use and navigate. Why even change things that aren’t broken.

    1. Agreed
If it isn’t broke, don’t try to fix it

  6. I get frustrated with the changes to how I use it to write and publish, but most blogs I read come to be first by email and those links rarely pose a problem.

    1. It seems like at least once a month there is a change on writing and posting

  7. This explains why I haven’t been able to see or even received posts from fellow bloggers.

    1. WP used to have “happiness engineers” now it is only AI making suggestions

  8. It’s not like they don’t have our email addresses. It would be nice to be notified about changes ahead of time!!

    1. Exactly- they have our email addresses

  9. I don’t use the reader, I get notified of other bloggers post via email, that works best for me, I feel your frustration about wordpress constantly making changes. X

    1. THe problem is that I do not receive an email for each blog I follow when they post

  10. I discovered this change this morning when I was on my PC. However, I reading most blogs from my tablet, which doesn’t require me to use the “glasses” icon.

    1. I will check on using my table to read posts
