Received a wedding invitation from a relative who I barely know. It caused me to wonder if the person really wants me at the wedding or perhaps only a wedding gift because for me it feels like I do not know this person and it surprised me to received the invitation.

Then I thought about what Jesus said in Matthew 7:21-23-“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
Jesus is not looking for what we have done, the great or small deeds. He is looking for relationship with us when he says ‘knew you’. Our works, no matter what they are, have no value to Jesus if we do not know him and have relationship with him. It is not enough to know his name and claim to know him. He wants us to know him. He wants that relationship with us.
It would be far better to live a simple humble life and really know Jesus, have relationship with him, than to have on the outside a life full of great deeds and not really know Jesus.
Do you know Jesus as your Savior? It can begin today by receiving him and asking him to be your Savior.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
