Warm coffee mug in my hand on a cold winter morning, worship music playing, and time with Jesus make for a good start to my day today. Today is a teach from home in Zoom day both my morning and evening classes, so no need to go outside, but next week we will have a ‘heat wave’ come through with each day in the 30s.

Small details can have great meaning especially when it is about what Jesus said or did during his earthly ministry. One such example is the folded face cloth that Jesus’s head was wrapped up in for his burial. When the disciples went into the empty tomb, the face cloth was neatly folded.

In that culture, a cloth that was just left in a heap after a meal meant the master was done. A cloth that was folded meant the master was not done and would return, would be back to finish.

By Jesus folding the cloth, it indicated he was not done. He would return. One day Jesus will return for those who know him as their Savior and then seven years after that Jesus will return to earth.

Jesus is called the first born of creation. He is the first one resurrected. He will resurrect all his followers to have immortal bodies just as he was.

The folded cloth after Jesus’s resurrection showed there was, there is, more to come. Jesus was just getting started in his labor of love for us.

Maranantha Lord Jesus, come Jesus.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. I’d never thought of it like that. It always reminded me of mum telling me to make my bed, but that’s a much more profound and spiritual thought you mention there! 🙂

  2. I did not know that. Thank you for sharing this Matt.
