She is the youngest one in my morning class for refugees. The other students think of her as a little sister and love to tease her. She smiles each time. One day a few weeks ago, when the van came to pick her up, she was still sleeping at 9am. One of the women called her and woke her up. She quickly put on some clothes, brushed her teeth and washed her face, then came out to the van.

Picture is not of my students.

Each morning I ask them questions like- “What time did you get up?” When it is her turn, the older women smile and say, “teacher she got up at 9am.” She smiles and laughs.

When we practice stand up and walk, the students smile, stand up, and start walking around the room laughing and bumping into each other. They are all in the 30s and 40s except the younger one.

They are from different countries but share in common the fact they are refugees from different war torn countries, so to see them smile and laugh blesses me.

Just a small glimpse into my class for refugees. They are in my prayers. Sometimes I wake up briefly around 3am, not planned, so I pray and ask Jesus to visit them in their dreams.

They and my other refugee/immigrant students and friends are why I get up each day and seek Jesus to give me strength to be a blessing.

Doctor update- no decision yet. Will have a test done in a few weeks. Not an emergent situation I think. I appreciate those who let me know they are praying.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

    This is wonderful 🙏

Such a simple glimpse, but full of love and purpose. Seeing them laugh, tease, and care for each other after all they’ve been through says so much. God’s grace shows up in those small, real moments.

Praying for you as you wait on your test results. God sees it all and He’s with you every step.

    God Bless you.

  2. This was such a nice post

  3. Thank you, and thank God for the work you do with English learners from many nations. Some of these new friends probably came to the U.S. with very little, yet you help them cope and smile as well!

    1. It is a blessing for me to be there for them
