“Teacher can I read this?” My student wanted to try reading. A big first step for her. She read the first paragraph well. I only helped her with a few words. She started the second paragraph and had some trouble. Frustrated she asked me, “teacher can you help me?” I told it was okay and we can read together. Then she repeated after me as we read together.

I tell my students my first rule is that mistakes are okay. I am there to help them. Language learning is about making progress whether it is slow or fast. So when they struggle, understanding and patience are called for. My attitude can free them up to try or discourage them from trying. Something I am always mindful of.

How many times have I tried and struggled? How many times have I tried and failed? Yet, Jesus says let’s do this together. The Holy Spirit is always with us empowering, helping, encouraging as we seek to live for Jesus.
Dear reader please do not focus on failures. Let them cause you to look to Jesus and ask for help,
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
