This past Sunday I arrived at New Breath Church early and sat with little Elisa talking while her mother was in the worship center practicing for the worship service. Little Elisa has a birthday this Friday and will be eight years old. She was excited to give invitations to her little friends to her birthday pool party.
After a while she started to worry that her closest friend was not coming and then became sad convinced her closest friend was not coming to church. I tried to encourage her that her friend could still be coming but my efforts availed no results.
Then she saw her closest friend’s family pull up to the church in their car. Instantly little Elisa sprang up excited to give her invitation and was all smiles.
I thought about Jesus’s promised return for us. At times we might get discouraged waiting and suffering through this life. But he will return. One glorious day in the future Jesus will return and for those of us who know Jesus as our Savior, it will be a day filled with joy.
