Sunday morning my pastor mentioned how many people are living now, 8.2 billion people, and the billions of people who have lived. When he shared the number, it was to emphasize how amazing it is that even though there are billions of people who have lived and are living now, God knows each person their names, their lives, their paths in life.

It is definitely so encouraging to realize that God sees me and knows me and that I am not lost in the crowd in God’s eyes.

But then a tragically sad reality hit me about that number of people who have lived and are living now. It is what Jesus said about the narrow gate in Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

Jesus is the gate. He said as much in John 10:7-9, “Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them.  I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved”

So we enter God’s presence, receive forgiveness and eternal life, only through Jesus but sadly few come to know him out of the billions who have lived and are living.

It causes me to want to share Jesus even more and pray for people.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.
