As I prepare to go to Christmas Eve service, I look forward to singing Silent Night by candle light.
This Christmas Eve, I will do so while praying for some bloggers I follow who have struggles they have shared about.
I will also pray to the Prince of Peace about crises in the world such as the tsunami that struck Indonesia, the violence in the Middle East, and the dangers in Central America.
I will pray for my refugee and immigrant friends who I teach and serve.
The reason I will pray is simple. Christmas Eve is a celebration of the birth of the Savior of the world. Jesus said in John 3:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”
God loves all people, so the least I can do is pray for others while I worship Jesus of whom the prophet Isaiah wrote in Isaiah 9:
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
I realize the ultimately the world will only be at peace when Jesus returns, but until then I will pray for the troubles in our world and for those who strive to share God’s love in the midst of the turmoil.
I hope your Christmas Eve is blessed. Merry Christmas.
