“Darkest water and deepest pain
I wouldn’t trade it for anything
‘Cause my brokenness brought me to you
And these wounds are a story you’ll use
So I’m thankful for the scars
‘Cause without them I wouldn’t know your heart
And I know they’ll always tell of who you are
So forever I am thankful for the scars“
I love these lyrics from the song Scars by I Am They.
Scars can be physical of which I have my share. Scars can also be emotional/psychological. Family problems, life struggles, broken relationships, health problems etc can leave scars. I shared about scars in a post- Scars.
Jesus has scars. He will have those scars for all eternity. They are in his wrists, his feet, and his side where he was pierced. His scars are there because he died for us, so we can have relationship with God, forgiveness, and healing for our souls and spirits.
If we feel distant from God, we only need to think of the scars on Jesus’s body to remember how much God loves us. Even in heaven, it is obvious Jesus died for us.. We read in Revelation 5:
“Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders”.
So if we are depressed, full of anxiety, ashamed of our past, or dealing with problems, we can look to his scars and remember, Jesus loves us.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
