On Monday I shared that to celebrate going over 20,000 views for the year, I wanted to do another Q & A. Today I want to share the questions and answers. I want to thank my 15 followers who asked me a question. The questions fit into 2 categories- Personal and about Blogging and Writing and 1 Fun Question..
Personal Get to Know Me Questions
Jacquie of Joy Cottage at joycottage.com asked:
How did you come to know the Lord?
I came to know the Lord through a friend who was a new Christian and was meeting with the woman who introduced him to Jesus for bible studies. I joined them one day and she looked at me and asked, “Matt do you want to trust Jesus as your Savior?” I said yes and we prayed. I was 19 years old. It took about 10 years for it to really grab me and change my life, but the saving faith was there.
Notes from a Sycamore Tree at My9.home.blog asked- Praising God even when you are in physical pain – How do you do that ?
It is not easy at times, but Jesus died for me. He endured great pain for me. It helps to focus on Jesus and not on me. I try to remember this life is temporary and only things that are eternal matter. I am thankful for Jesus giving my life meaning and purpose.
Beverley of Becoming the Oil and the Wine at becomingtheoilandthewine.com asked- I would like to learn more about you and your family. Are you married and do you have children?
I am not married and have no children. I went through a health crisis and almost died when I was in my early 30s. That ordeal was about 3 years and a year of recovering. Then I continued my education. I became sick after I had been in school studying for the ministry. By the time I finished my education I was already over 40.
Inspired Grisele of inspiredgrisele.wordpress.com asked- What is that one experience that when you look back on, it encourages you to keep going and pursuing God?
There are many I can look back on, but the biggest is the time I thought I was going to die in July 1995 and I prayed to Jesus saying something like- “If tonight you want to take me home to heaven, that is okay, but there are more people who need to hear about you.” After I prayed, I felt his presence come not my small apartment and a hand on my shoulder.
Jeanne of Garden Faith at gardenfaith.com asked- If you could go back and give advice to your younger self, what would you say?
I would tell myself that I have an aptitude for language the Lord gave me and to trust him to help me learn more languages and go for it.
Vaneesa Lynn of Brave, Blessed, and Beautiful at braveblessedandbeautiful.com asked- Will you share one of your favorite scripture verses that you hold dear?
So many for me but one that I remember as I share with people is 2 Corinthians 1-verses 3 and 4: These verse remind me that God has helped me in areas of suffering so I can help others.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God”
This leads me to Pallavi’s question. Pallavi’s blog is curatingthoughts.blog Her question-Your posts have a healing message. How do you come up with your topics?
My topics come from my personal like and my relationship with Jesus. As I pray, I feel led to write about certain things. I believe that Jesus intervened in my life and continues to bless me, so I can help others.
Perth Girl of The F Word at faithfood.blog asked- If you were not teaching what do you think you would be doing?
I can’t imagine not teaching, but if I was not teaching, I think I would be a full time home missionary.
Dawn of drawingclosertochrist.com asked- Do you think you’ll ever go abroad to teach again? If so what country would you like to go to?
I hope so. I really want to go back to Brazil to teach. I love Brazil. 🙂
Deandra of Imago Dei at deandrahurst.com asked- How many states have you lived in and which one is your favorite?
I have only lived in 2 states- Nebraska and Minnesota. I would have to say Nebraska out of the two because this is where my ministry is. Of the other states I have visited, I enjoyed Wisconsin because I spent time with my brother and his family there.
Fun Fun 🙂
Tina of God’s Kid Speaks at godskidspeaks.com asked- Who is your favorite Lord of the Rings Character and Why?
When I watched Fellowship of the Ring after seeing Arwen and Galadriel I momentarily thought to myself- “I need to marry an Elf Woman.”
BUT- Gandalf the White is my favorite because he led the effort to defeat Sauron, he defeated the Ballrog which is why he became Gandalf the White.
About Blogging and Writing
Jenny of Progress in Bloom at progressinbloom.com asked- What is a list of all of your projects/writing/etc… and what do you hope to accomplish with them? ❤
Besides this blog:
I have a blog of short stories. I plan to make some of them into books. I am thinking perhaps e-books on Amazon.
I have written some drama sketches for churches. Some have been performed at my home church.
Lydia of Lydia’s Blog at inhisserviceandlovingit.wordpress.com asked-
Why do you blog?
Do you enjoy blogging?
How old is your blog?
I blog because I want to share the love of Jesus with people. I also enjoy writing. I love blogging not only because I like to write, but I also enjoy the interaction with other bloggers. My blog is 9 years old, but I did not do much with it until March 2018 due to foggy brain from chronic illness.
Made of Still at madeofstill.com– My question: what future blogging milestones are you looking forward to?
I am looking forward to continued blogging. It is not about numbers for me but more about sharing with people and interacting with other bloggers. I hope to make my blog a private domain soon. I also hope to share about e-books I write in the future.

Even though you did not have any biological children God made you a father to all those refugess that you have spent your time and talent helping and teaching. That is what fatherhood is about.
