Sometimes I play a game online. It is a harmless little game, but I notice my competitive side comes out. Each day the leader board is new listing the top ten scores. I want to make that top ten every day I play it and in fact want the top score. I laughed at myself yesterday because of how meaningless it is. There is no eternal value in it. No one even knows who I am among the others who play it.

When I was in 6th grade, my little league football team was undefeated and won the city championship. It felt great. But the following year, we did not win the championship. That didn’t feel so good.
Any competition in this life is temporary as are championships. Think about it. If a team was national champion in any sport, say in 1970, then half or more of the population weren’t even alive yet and probably only care if they are the most rabid fans.
When the media makes a big deal out of a movie breaking box office records, my first thought is-“Yes, and ticket prices are much higher now, so what.”

There is a victory that we can enjoy forever that has already been won. I Corinthians 15 says:
“The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Jesus died for us and defeated death for us, so we can have victory over sin and death with him. He won the victory and shares it with us. We only receive it through faith in him. We had nothing to do with the victory other than receiving what was won for us.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
