When I first began to teach in the special program for moms that I teach in, it was mostly because no one else would take the spot in a school that was on the far outskirts of my city. I saw an internal email that someone was needed to teach in that school. I offered to teach it and ended up having the position.

I understand why I was overlooked. I do not have children. I am a single man. I did not fit the profile of someone who teaches in such a program.

BUT

God opens doors.

Ten years later- I have helped eight former assistants to become lead instructors whether for a few quarters or continually.

This week I will be part of a small group to make some decisions about our program.

The reason I am sharing this is because God can make a way when there seems to be no way. God can open doors for us even when we are overlooked.

I did not arrive at this point easily. There were obstacles along the way. It required me to grow as a teacher along the way too. When God opens a door for us. he does not necessarily look for the most qualified in the beginning, but he will give us opportunities to become qualified.

Whatever our situation is, we should never overlook God’s ability to help us, guide us, and provide for us when we are overlooked.

God never overlooks his children. 🙂

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. Our society needs this message! I was up all night for multiple reasons, one being the coronavirus situation. We need to keep in mind that God opens doors.

  2. Really instructive post. Thanks for sharing.

  3. God is good at opening unexpected doors for us, then guiding us through them. We just need faith to get out of our boat of security and follow His path for us.

    1. Amen- steps of faith 🙂

  4. If it weren’t for God’s help, I’d feel totally lost and overlooked. I’m glad that He never forgets us nor for sakes us. ☺

    1. He never will forget or forsake us little sister 🙂

  5. I’m thankful for the way He prepares us for things ahead and opens doors up wide for us. I am experiencing that even now.

I spoke with a retired teacher at my former church. She has never been married and she said early in her career she had a hard time because some parents didn’t want their kids in her class because she was single and some incorrectly thought she was a lesbian. It’s so unfortunate when people have stereotypes of what a person should be like to hold a certain position.

    1. Stereotypes limit use from getting to know people for who they are. So sad

    Aaaahhhh… ❤️ That was a wonderful affirmation.

    1. Thank you little sister 🤗

  7. Look who the Holy Spirit chose to record His words: princes, farmers, fishermen, students, etc. The Lord chose men and women of many walks to accomplish His will. Thanks for the reminder!

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

    1. Good point to remember who God has worked through 🙂

  11. Amen! I agree with this message. As teachers, both of us have witnessed God’s calling. I am amazed how He opened doors during my teaching career.
