I read an excellent article by a trauma psychologist about the global pandemic we are currently in. The article is A Trauma Psychologist Weighs in on the Risks of ‘Motivational’ Pressure During the Quarantine by Anne Reneau.

She makes some valid points. This global pandemic and accompanying quarantines and self isolating strategies is something we have not experienced in our life times. There have been localized concerns, but nothing to the global extent we are faced with. People cope differently and some people struggle with issues like depression and anxiety.
That is why I have avoided posting motivational type posts such as- If you don’t acquire a new skill during this time…
The example I prefer to follow is that of Jesus in Matthew 9:
“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”
Compassion and understanding are to important right now. They always are, but we are in a crisis we do not have a reference point for. Jesus saw the people and their needs and was filled with COMPASSION. My understanding is that the word for compassion in the original language gives the idea of feeling like one is overwhelmed with compassion.
Let’s remember to show the kindness and compassion of Jesus as we all go through this time.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
