Jesus led me to a wonderful ministry of teaching and helping people from diverse countries and cultures. They are an array of beautiful colors created by God in his majestic artistry. God loves all people of all races so much that he sent Jesus to die for all of us.

I have been in their homes. I have heard their stories of what they have been through in their home countries and also in America.

For the ones who are refugees, their stories include being victimized by those in authority. The Karen People of Burma were afraid to go outside the refugee camps in Thailand out of fear the Thai police would beat them and take what little money they had. The Sudanese in my city lived in fear of government troops from the north coming to kill them. My Yazidi friends were victimized for centuries by authorities and treated as less than human. The list could go on and on about the experiences of my refugee friends.

When they share their concerns with me, I listen and try to offer comfort and also advice about building their new lives in America. My ministry is based on trying to share the love of Jesus with them while helping them with their lives in their new country the USA.

Now I am faced with knowing what to tell them if they ask me about George Floyd being murdered by police officers in Minneapolis.

What reassurances can I offer them? My city has not had overtly serious problems and the police are professional in how they conduct themselves here. But that is not a 100% guarantee.

What do I tell them? I do not know. I will have to trust what Jesus said in Mark 13:

“Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.”

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. Mark 13 is all that you can do. Its impossible to make sense of anything at the moment but to keep ourselves on the right path and be a calming voice in a world of uncertainty.

    1. Yes each of us in our little corners of the world

  2. Matt, I appreciate your discussion. Living in Columbus, Ohio, we have witnessed the social uprising with violence arriving at our doorstep. Racism has never really gone away, and we need the love and example of Jesus now more than ever. Racism of any type is unacceptable, no matter the national origin, ethnicity, or color of a person’s skin.

    1. Racism is hideous. Sorry to hear the violence is arriving there

  3. For the words you will speak will not be yours; they will come from the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. – Matt 10:20

      2. I’m coming along. 🤗

  4. The Holy Spirit will give you the right words!

  5. This is an unfortunate situation to happen in a time such as now. All I can say is that it is a direct act of the devil to create more turmoil in the country just at the point when this pandemic was decreasing. May God help us.

    1. We definitely need God’s help

  6. You speak volumes in LOVE. In GOD’S PRECIOUS LOVE. May He always keep your anointing so fresh and overflowing so that you may reach even more hearts for Jesus! God bless you mightily Big Brother Mat! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Keep sharing the Jesus that never fails even when we horribly fail one another as humans. His beautiful love surpasses all this present ugliness. Sending prayers, brother, that He will equip you with the words needed and the peace that passes all understanding to accompany them. Blessings!

  10. Wow. I had to go read about the man’s story. May God help us to love one another and be better people indeed.

The video I watched, that was brutal – kneeling on someone that way. 😪

    1. It was brutal. The officer has been arrested and charged with murder

      1. Yeah. Sadly, we are supposed to be looking out for one another but the reverse is the case. 😓

Yeah, I read about it. But the life that was lost, can’t be regained. 😪

  11. All we can do right now is pray. Pray for justice and peace.

    1. Yes pray and listen to those who have been oppressed

      1. Yes absolutely listen to what they have to say.

  12. I definitely have to learn to trust that Holy Spirit will give me the words. I freak out about this too much.

    1. It is a growing process

  13. Praying you’ll have just the right words from Him through this time❤️🙏
