Since teaching online via Zoom began for me, I have not worn shoes and socks while I teach. In fact I usually wear pajama bottoms and a shirt or shorts and a shirt. In Zoom people only see me from the neck up and if I need to get up and go to get more coffee, I can simply stop the video and all they see is a picture of me.

Because of this, I have had the same dream many times. In the dream, I go to teach in the elementary school where I teach moms English. After walking around for a while and noticing my colleagues staring at me, I realize I am not wearing shoes and socks. I am walking around barefoot.

Walking around barefoot is so comfortable but unfortunately people would not consider it professional. Oh well.

We do not need to worry about ‘proper’ clothing when we come to Jesus in prayer. We do not need to have fancy or expensive clothes. It does not matter how we look when we come to our Heavenly Father in prayer. Why? In Galatians it says:

“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

If we believe in Jesus, we are baptized by the Holy Spirit in Christ. When we come to God Our Heavenly Father, we are clothed with Christ. That means God sees Jesus when we come to him in prayer. He does not see our sins or our mistakes. He sees Jesus and responds to us as his children.

I am grateful that when I come to God Our Heavenly Father that he sees Jesus. But I still hope I remember to wear shoes and socks when I return to the school in September. 🙂

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. I sure hope you remember those shoes and socks in September 😂
I’m thankful that the Lord just wants us to come as we are. Here’s a secret, many of my quiet times with Him are being locked in the bathroom 😉

    1. Can you unlock the door? Haha 😂

      1. Lol, no need to, my Savior can appear and reappear through walls 😉

  2. That’s an interesting dream. I’m thankful we can come to Him as we are. And we don’t have to have eloquent prayers.

    1. Eloquent don’t impress God. A contrite spirit does

  5. Oh, you should come here brother Matt…
In many parts, you have to remove your footwear to enter or they get very offended….especially down south where I currently live. That includes small shops and smaller-mid sized hospitals too!!!!!🤣😅🙃💭🧔🐼😴

    1. It would be fun to visit there 🐼🤗😇🐼🤗😇🐼🤗😇

  6. I work in an office with a very casual atmosphere and I see many people walking around wearing just socks 😀 Who said it’s not professional, it’s so much more comfortable than staying in shoes for the whole day!

    1. I wish I could do that 🤗

  7. 😊I’m certain you’ll remember to put them back when you return to school. I love how you likened this to relationship with God.

  8. Lol!. This made me laugh. 😁
Yeah we are clothed with Christ so all God sees in us is Him in and at work in us. 💃

    1. I am grateful God see Christ when he looks at us 🙂

      1. Yes big bro. Me too. 💃

  9. I hope you will remember.🙂 I suggest you begin practice dressing up before your zoom meeting. So glad that we are clothed in the righteousness of Christ.

    1. Maybe I will practice 🙂

  10. Matt, if I was still teaching via these various online avenues, I am sure I would be barefoot.
