Since teaching online via Zoom began for me, I have not worn shoes and socks while I teach. In fact I usually wear pajama bottoms and a shirt or shorts and a shirt. In Zoom people only see me from the neck up and if I need to get up and go to get more coffee, I can simply stop the video and all they see is a picture of me.

Because of this, I have had the same dream many times. In the dream, I go to teach in the elementary school where I teach moms English. After walking around for a while and noticing my colleagues staring at me, I realize I am not wearing shoes and socks. I am walking around barefoot.
Walking around barefoot is so comfortable but unfortunately people would not consider it professional. Oh well.
We do not need to worry about ‘proper’ clothing when we come to Jesus in prayer. We do not need to have fancy or expensive clothes. It does not matter how we look when we come to our Heavenly Father in prayer. Why? In Galatians it says:
“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
If we believe in Jesus, we are baptized by the Holy Spirit in Christ. When we come to God Our Heavenly Father, we are clothed with Christ. That means God sees Jesus when we come to him in prayer. He does not see our sins or our mistakes. He sees Jesus and responds to us as his children.
I am grateful that when I come to God Our Heavenly Father that he sees Jesus. But I still hope I remember to wear shoes and socks when I return to the school in September. 🙂
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
