Sunday morning my pastor interviewed some teachers who are part of our church to help us understand the needs and concerns of teachers as we start the school year here. It was such a blessing to see the beginning of my church embracing the schools and teachers in my city.

I had already emailed the principal of the school where my morning class meets asking for ways I can help this school year. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, volunteers from the community can not enter the building. My desire is to volunteer in some way after my morning class finishes perhaps three mornings per week.
It has been a blessing to email or message with some of the teachers in the school over the summer. One of them will not be in the building because she will have a baby soon. We have been emailing since I let her know I am praying for her and her baby.
Today we will interview the young woman who I hope will be my new assistant for the year. This week I will go prepare my classroom. It is coming soon. Each year at this time, I am excited to return to the classroom. I am looking forward to it this year, but there is a hint of caution in my mind to be careful regarding the virus. So I will wear a mask as I teach, keep hand sanitizer with me, and also wash my hands.
Mostly though, what is on my mind is the opportunity to show the love, kindness, and understanding of Jesus to those I interact with in the school. My desire is to be a source of encouragement. In essence my desire is to be a light.
I don’t think of the school as a dark place, but this song expresses my sentiment.
Amen, my friend. God has called us to be a reflection of Himself – a light to the world. And that is who you are. That is who I want to be as well. Thanks for reminding us of this great song.
Thank you π
How are you?
Doing well, thanks for asking.
I pray all goes well with the new school year. Iβm sure going back will be exciting for you.
Thank you for prayers little sister π€
Brother Matt, you are like a ray of hope wherever you go. If you enter into darkness, everything just brightens up. I’m so happy you are getting the opportunity to spread your light and joy again soon. π¨βπ«ππ

Wishing you the best with this school year!
Thank you my fellow Jedi. When do your classes start?
In a bit over a week now.
What classes will you have?
So this is my honours year so I will only be focusing on history. I have taken one history course this semester but hope to make it two if everything goes well and I can get into that class.
I am sure you will do well my fellow Jedi π€
Love that your church is getting involved!! So inspiring!
Remind me what grade you teach and what it entails…pleaseπ
I know your gifted with speaking a foreign language and helping with refugees but wasnβt sure how all of it ties together with school.
I teach a program called Family Literacy. We teach moms English at the school where their children go and connect it to understanding their childβs education
Thatβs really neat, so is it a private school?
All the best for your new school year as you shine for Jesus.
The Lord bless you and keep you.
Thank you little sister π€
Glad you are making progress with resumption plans.
It shall be a great school year by His grace. Keep spreading His love, big bro. π€
