When I was a child, we used to light advent candles but more out of tradition. We did not talk about the meaning they represented. After looking it up, what I found is the first Advent Sunday candle represents Hope.

Hope. In a world that is experiencing a pandemic- Hope. In a country filled with strife and uncertainty-Hope.

The hope I am speaking of is solid and eternal because of who the anchor of hope is- Jesus. Colossians 1:27:

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Christ in us. Christ with us. Christ for us. Christ our Savior. That is eternal solid hope to look to in the midst of all of the troubles in the world.

I love the song Immanuel by Michael Card. It expresses the hope in Christ so well.

  1. Hope is what our world needs in the middle of this pandemic

  2. As another blogger put it so beautifully, we can move from hopefully to hope fully through focusing on the advent of Christ.

  3. Thankful for the hope we have in Jesus. He holds us still. 🙌

    1. Yes he does 🙂
How are you little sister 🙂

      1. Smiles.

  4. This sone was just what I needed today. I had a tooth pulled last ednesday, and now it hurts so bad that I thought I am alone in this nightmare. But, listening to the song, i realized that Satan is a liar, I am not alone, and there are people in greater pain and God is with them, too, Nothing can defeat us. Thank you for the words and the song. It’s ironic because the last sermon I preached was on not losing your hope in God.

    1. Prayed for you. You should go back for a follow up with the dentist because the pain should have gotten better by now. It could be a dry socket

      1. Thank you. I will call them tomorrow. Ironic that teeth hurt coming in as babies and hurt losing in old age.

  5. When can put our hope in Jesus and know He will never fail us.

    1. Amen. He will never fail us
