A few of my fellow teachers and I have a countdown for how many more mornings of needing an alarm clock. We do this before each break like Christmas Break, Spring Break, and of course before summer. They are a bit jealous my countdown is shorter due to my morning class ending four days before their classes end for the year.

When I have a day off from my morning class, I call it a no alarm clock day. When the alarm clock wakes me up on school days, it is a love/hate moment for me. I love teaching my morning class, so I begrudgingly get out of bed wishing I could sleep some more. I can’t throw my alarm clock out of frustration because I use my iPad for my alarm clock.

So about yesterday and my Epic Failure. I set aforementioned alarm clock for 6:30 in the morning. Much to my chagrin, I woke up at 6 in the morning meaning I woke up before my alarm clock could perform its unwelcome intrusion upon my slumber. I realize this may cause you to worry about my welfare, but let me reassure you that I did survive my Epic Failure.

It helped that I had time for a most welcome event called an afternoon nap. Naps are wonderful and I believe can be a spiritual endeavor. Jesus took naps. He slept in the boat in the midst of a storm. I really need to get the shirt that says0 ‘Jesus took naps. Be Like Jesus.’ 😉

How do you feel about alarm clocks?

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. When I was teaching, my alarm clock was a trusted friend. Since I am a morning person, I look forward to starting up the engine on another day. Now retired, I usually wake to my alarm now found on my phone. Technology changes, but the alarm keeps buzzing.

    1. As a night owl I don’t understand morning people lol

  2. I absolutely dislike hearing an alarm clock in the morning but, if I don’t use it, I may not get up in time for work.

    1. We are kindred spirits little sister 🙂

Alarm clocks are not my favorite, but sadly, very necessary. I have learned I do best if I set several ranging from 30 minutes before I get up to “yes, it is really time to get up.” so that it is a more gradual, less jarring wake-up. I use my phone, so I mix and match sounds, movie quotes, and songs I’ve downloaded. Makes the unpleasant a touch more fun. 🙂

    1. I have to make myself get up lol

  4. I do not like alarm clocks, I very rarely sleep when I know the alarm will wake me up. I usually wake up much earlier than the alarm 😞😞

    1. Waking up before the alarm- so sorry

  5. You always make me smile, I have a radio alarm so I wake up to a music in the background.
Glad you had a nap and yes naps are good for you as I have done it once it felt good.
Bless you and have a wonderful Friday 🙂

    1. I am glad I make you smile. You have a beautiful smile 🙂

  6. I’m an early riser (God wakes me up 3:30-4 AM every morning.

But I do use alarms to remind me of other things 😉

  8. Jesus took naps. Be Like Jesus lol. I wish I would take afternoon naps but napping on my desk makes me neck hurt.

I hate the alarm clock but God knows I need it so that I don’t get on the wrong side of my boss at work.

    1. Alarm clocks are a necessary device no one likes lo

  9. On days when I need to be up before 6:30am, I use an alarm – I love that it guarantees me a stress-free sleep, knowing it’s not left to chance and no decisions are necessary that morning.

    1. Alarms are a necessary thing I do not enjoy lol
