Last night I was listening to music on YouTube and a song came up from the early 1990s by Soul Asylum called Runaway Train. Whenever I hear that song, I am reminded of my life as a teen runaway. When home is worse than the thought of living on the streets, it is tragic. Fortunately for me I was able to stay with various friends most of the time sleeping on sofas, but there were nights in the parks etc.
Then I noticed a video on the side in the suggestion by Hillsong-I Am Who You Say I Am. I listened to it and it brought me back to where God would want my thoughts. I am who God says I am.
We are not our past mistakes, sins, hardships. Those help to shape who we are whether for our good or not, but they are not who we are when we come to know Jesus.
Who we are when we come to know Jesus. what our identity becomes, is child of God. John 1:12 says of those who receive Jesus:
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God
We receive a new birthright when we come to know Jesus. Our birthright becomes child of God, heirs of heaven. That is the identity God says we have.
Thank you for reading. God Bless
