This past week, it was a blessing to have lunch with two different pastors, one on Tuesday and one on Thursday. Each lunch was a blessing for different reasons.

The pastor I had lunch with on Tuesday is a counseling pastor at a church here in Lincoln called Lincoln Berean. I met him years ago through his sister and brother. I had sent him a copy of my book Jesus Understands Trauma. During our lunch, we spent a few hours catching up with each other since we had not seen each other for many years We also talked about a way I might help in a ministry at his church.

Thursday’s lunch was with the lead pastor at my church First Free Lincoln. He bought me a belated birthday lunch. It was a blessed time of sharing what Jesus is doing in our lives. We also talked about ministry and my books.

Yesterday as I was reflecting back on my week one thought came to me. It was how much Jesus has changed my life. Before I came to Jesus, rededicated my life to Jesus in 1989, no one would have thought I would become a person pastors would want to have lunch with to discuss ministry let alone write books. But Jesus did.

Jesus does not look at us and see only how we are when we come to him. He sees what we will become because of his work in our lives. He loves us the way we are when we come to him but loves us too much to let us stay the way we are. My reflecting underscored Philippians 1:6.

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus

Yes my life was a mess thirty-four years ago, but Jesus transformed me and my life. That is evidenced by my Sunday mornings. This morning in my Sunday group, I will be joined by friends from Brazil, El Salvador and Venezuela. Jesus definitely lifted me out of the pit and called me to the nations like my book talks about. He saw it happening in 1989 when no one else, including me, would have.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.
