Consider how precious a soul must be, when both God and the devil are after it. 

I love this quote from Charles Spurgeon who was a great preacher in England in the 1800s. Our souls are pursued by both God and Satan. Satan wants to destroy but God wants to save our souls. We are so precious to God that as John 3:16 says:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 

The question for us is whether we will respond to God calling us in Jesus or to Satan calling in the numerous false religions. God loves us and loves our souls. Satan hates us and our souls.

Take time today and reflect on how much you are worth to God. We are worth so much to God that he sent his best-Jesus. Jesus wants us to be with him forever in heaven. We cannot fathom the wonders that await those who believe in Jesus..

    Brother, what a beautiful reminder of our worth. I have a Charles Spurgeon quote I’ll be using in an upcoming piece. Two authors, whom I appreciate, lived in 1800’s-early 1900’s (W. Ian Thomas and AB Simpson). I never thought about being “fought” over in this sense before. I’ve been having difficulties responding on some posts of yours. I’m trying this on my phone.     Very true. Whenever any of us feel like we’re not special we should all remember that Jesus died specifically for us. He loves us and would do anything to give us the opportunity to be saved. We just have to take it.

    AMEN, Matt! I can heartily agree: “We cannot fathom the wonders that await those who believe in Jesus.” I’ve experienced thousands of wonders in my lifetime as God has provided for our family. He’s guided us, protected us, and blessed us beyond what we could have imagined. In 1983 I began recording the more remarkable events in a journal-notebook. There are now over 1500 entries, and we’re still counting! He does indeed execute wonderful things, things planned long ago, in complete faithfulness and truth (Isaiah 25:1)!
