Today it will be a blessing to attend the small private wedding ceremony of Ester my friend Oleksii’s daughter. Her fiancé’s brother was in a car accident and was in the hospital most of September. Ester and her fiancé Vitaly decided to have a small private wedding today and will have a larger celebration next Spring.
Since coming to America in September 2022, Oleksii has become a grandfather. His daughter Abigail and her husband had a baby last November. Now his second daughter Ester will get married. Such blessings are an encouragement for him and his family after having lost so much due to the war in Ukraine.
Yesterday I had lunch with Oleksii and my friend Kerry who is a missions consultant for my denomination the Evangelical Free Church of America. Kerry has been working with Oleksii on a new church I shared about in my post A Church Born Out of Hardship.
During lunch we talked about the new church, how Oleksii and his family are doing, and about reaching Ukrainians resettled in other cities in my state. Oleksii is concerned about two new families arriving and the needs they have for furniture and other provisions. That impressed me because Oleksii has struggled to provide for his family due to not receiving his work permit until this past March.
