Yesterday morning it finally came on that light that comes on in my mind to start writing. It is a short fiction story connecting the modern day problem of cyberbullying and harassment with how Jesus endured constant harassment during his earthly ministry.

The short story will be part of a book I hope to publish by December. The book will be some new short stories and some I shared on my site encounterswiththeancients.com. The short stories will be weaved together by a storyteller

My writing process is one that I do not think I would wish on anyone. I get an idea, it ruminates in my mind for a while and then a light goes on and it is time to write. The problem is that I never know when that light will go on. Sometimes I wake up with it.

My hope for the book is to connect biblical accounts and people with issues we face today in our “modern world” and by doing so people are encouraged in their faith or drawn to faith in Jesus.

This morning will be time for church both my conversation group and worship. This afternoon will be time with my Ukrainian friends.

What will your Sunday bring?

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. God wakes me up with ideas too, brother! I like your latest book plans; we need more modern day parables that share God’s truth.
Today, after church is Messiah rehearsal. Nancy and I sing in it every year. Have a blessed Sunday!

    1. The Messiah is one of my all time favs

  2. The encounters with the ancients was very good. Glad you’re publishing it. Sunday is my official day of rest from work and studying. So today will be relaxing for me.

    1. Thank you little sister.
Maybe you can go to the beach for rest or maybe go to the mountain to play with bears 🙂

      1. The beach would be nice if it was warmer. I’ll pass on the bears, especially if it’s grizzly bears.

      2. Maybe you can lunch with friends after church 🙂

      3. Last Sunday, I did do that. It was nice.

  3. The book idea sounds very interesting.

      2. I am okay. Will pray for you

  6. Love that you have an idea for a book, Matt, and are starting. Your writing will birth more books. Congratulations and blessings!

    1. Thank you 🙂 🙂 🙂
      Are you ready for Thanksgiving?

      1. You’re welcome! 😊
I am always ready to give thanks to God for his goodness. Thanksgiving is a favorite holiday of mine because it is a time for family and friends to gather and enjoy God’s goodness and each other. However, I have done nothing but prepare my heart for it!❤️

      2. Since I do none of the cooking, I show up thankful for God and friends and enjoy a nice dinner

      3. \o/ Happy Thanksgiving!

  7. Nice website and good short stories.

    1. Thank you little sister 🙂 🙂 🙂
      How are you?

      1. I am doing good. My doctor’s appointment on Thursday had good results. My liver is finally healing.😊😇

      2. Thank you. Needless to say, I am praising Father God for His goodness. Like you, my health journey is very interesting. Staying close to Father God is the secret for standing strong.

      3. I can’t imagine facing it all without Our Father and Jesus

  8. Wow, it sounds exciting. Please, continue to share your experience as writing the book. The Lord has put in a similar purpose in my heart. I hope to get it done by December too. It sounds comforting to share the path with someone.

    1. Thank you little sister.
What book are you working on?

      1. I am writing about healing on a life journey together as a missionary family based in Nepal. Serving God as a family comes with a price. The readers alongside the characters can reflect together with where the stand with God.

  9. May your light bulb stay bright

    1. Thank you 🙂
The past few days it has been like a floodgate opened

  10. I think that light that goes on is the prompting of the Holy Spirit!!

    1. Agreed
Wonderful when we receive those promptings
