“Get your body there and your mind will follow.”

Those words have stayed with me over the years and have helped me keep going at time.

Sunday was such a time for me. I woke up Sunday morning drained from the week and was tempted to stay home. But sort of automatically got up, got ready, and went to church. I shared part of that Sunday afternoon in my post A Sunday Morning Boost.

If I had stayed home, here are the blessings I would have missed.

1- Seeing my friend Luis from El Salvador.

2- Hearing from the counseling pastor that a woman who read my book Jesus Understands Trauma came to see him for counseling.

3- Seeing my new friend Jamie who I met the Sunday after he got out of the hospital for depression. He is reading my book as well.

4- An awesome worship service and having an idea for a short story come to mind while worshipping.

5- Time with my friends at the Ukrainian church, sharing the gospel message there, and praying with a woman who is a refugee from there as she trusted Jesus as her Savior.

I had no idea all of that would transpire. I am grateful that once again that advice from several years ago kicked in. I got my body there and soon enough, my mind followed and it was a wonderful day.

Do you have advice like that from someone that kicks in for you at times?

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. It’s amazing how when we push ourselves a little bit, we find blessings in our path.

    1. Amen- God guiding us to the blessings 🙂

  2. Oh I love that, that’s great advice!!!

    1. Advice that has helped me a lot over the years.
How are you? Did you have snow Sunday? We had a little

      1. I thought of the advice you shared today, around noon, when I went to visit my grandma at the nursing home, which I don’t love doing bc it’s just different than our time together used to be when she was home. BUT your words (get your body there and your mind will follow) came to me and helped me stay at peace and enjoy our visit…hmm now if I could just use that advice for my home gym!!😂

      2. I am glad you could enjoy your time with your grandma. Such moments will be treasures for you in the future. As for the home gym, well, I must admit I am not good at such either lol

  3. I need to remember that- get my body there and my mind will follow 🙂

    1. It has helped me many times

  4. There have been times when I was so glad I had pushed aside conflicts to be someplace and then was so glad I did. Being faithful is difficult sometimes. It is not always rewarded like your awesome Sunday. One never knows.

    1. Not always rewarded to the extent it was on Sunday, but I have never regretted following it.

  5. That is a wonderful advice and I am glad it works out for you. I will have to use this advice sometimes.

  6. I really like that advice Matt, I am going to remember that when I don’t feel motivated to do something.

    1. It helps me 🙂
      How are you Manu?

      1. I am doing good Matt, thank you so much for asking.

  7. Good advice. One piece of advice I always remember is to NOT make important decisions in a time of desolation. It has saved me much regret and heartache.

  8. This is such great advice! I’ve always said that for me, getting out the door is the hardest part of going someplace…church included! Now I’ll remember your good advice. Thanks, Matt.

    1. Getting out the door can be challenging at times
