My Christmas break is over as of today. Thanks to the snow we had, only seven inches total, my break was extended two days. It is time to get back in the classroom and meet my new students for the quarter. I am looking forward to meeting them.

The extra two days of break were not wasted. I spent more time editing and preparing my upcoming book Encounters with the Ancients. The extra time also gave me time to rest up on Monday after a productive yet hectic weekend.
Each time a new quarter of classes starts, I wonder who I will meet and what opportunities Jesus will bring my way. Some of the students are returning students and some are new students. One of my returning students is a woman whose father passed away last November and due to the class she was in being a smaller one and a few days of her being the only student, I was able to listen as she shared about what was going on in her life.
I have been teaching long enough that this past Sunday it happened again. A man from Ukraine who has lived here for fifteen years visited the Ukrainian church. He remembered me from when he took classes fourteen years ago. He was not in one of my classes, but he remembered me. I recognized his face, but did not remember his name. It is a bit awkward to have former students remember me from long ago when I do not remember them or not remember their names.
The snow stopped but now we have bitterly cold temps coming our way. That means waking up a bit earlier, so I can warm up my car. But the coffee is ready for me here at home to start my day.
What will your day bring?
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
