Yesterday I had the blessing of spending time with Pastor Alekseyi and meeting a young married couple from Ukraine that arrived this past week. At one stop, I saw this sign that made me think of my refugee friends. Coincidence? I think not.

But truth be told, it applies to all of us. Deep down we know something is missing. Deep down we know things are not right and in many ways we do not belong to the mess this world is in.

Hebrews 11:14-16 says:

People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

As for the young married couple, while we we having ice cream, I shared with them that Jesus has them in his hand and no one can take them out of his hand. As I shared, the wife cried. I could see Jesus was ministering to her, so we prayed. She is only 19 years old and has experienced so much loss because of the war.

As the sign says, she is looking for a hospitable place. I am glad I could be a small part of her finding my city to be a hospitable place.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.
